Main Project Features: The LIVAN DBFM project was awarded to Imtech together with the THV partner Denys. It is an extension of the existing tram network with an underground connection fom "Astrid" at the center to Herentalsebaan and further aboveground towards the P&R Wommelgem. The project included 4 underground and 1 aboveground substations 15kV of which 3 received EANDIS incomming supply and 2 were interconnected.
Positions held: Lead Engineer Power - LIVAN for Imtech Traffic & Infra: 1) the 3 x 15kV EANDIS grid connections and the 15kV distribution 2) the 6 traction transformers 1600 & 1000 kVA 15kV/485V and the 5 distribution transformers 630, 400 & 100kVA 15kV/420V 3) the 15kV switchgear, interlocking and protection 4) the 5 main 380V distribution boards including 200kVA interconnections 5) the earthing grid.

Activities performed: Investigations & measurements on-site to find the cause of the Avelgem transformer tripping during inrush on large 400/150/33kV single phase ELIA transformers. Distorted CT signals lowered the 2nd harmonic content that prevents tripping during inrush. Root-Cause-Analysis lead to the replacement of the CT's with a compensation winding with a positive result.
